Everybody thinks successful people are more motivated than they are. They're not. They just built better habits back when nobody was watching, and they kept them on the days they didn't feel like it.
Donna and Jeremiah get into what actually holds a life together after the excitement wears off. The first fifteen minutes of the morning and the rule about not touching the phone. Why discipline is really just keeping the promise you made to yourself. How to get back up after you break it without spiraling. Donna talks about the years she worked twelve to fourteen hours a day, seven days a week, and what changed when she finally put boundaries around her weekends. Jeremiah talks about calling three random people a week just to ask how they're doing, and what that one habit did to his relationships.
In this episode:
Why motivation is just dopamine, and why it will leave you
The first fifteen minutes of your day, and the phone rule
Discipline as keeping your word to yourself when nobody is watching
Failing on purpose, and getting back up the next morning instead of next Monday
The four buckets: urgent, not urgent, important, not important
Why planning creates freedom, and why everything feels urgent without one
Your calendar reveals your values
Systems that carry you on the days you don't want to show up
